Who is your hero? Why is he/she your hero and how can you be more like him/her?
My hero is my grandfather, the father of my mother, and his entire life story shows why he is my hero. He went through so much in life, but his kindness and generosity touched so many hearts that I often wonder why so many people know him. I got to hear five stories about his generosity and kindness, and he was one of worker for onr of the first people arrived in the city; his own grandfather is the one who named our barangay.
First story, he had three siblings, two girls and one boy. He lent his younger brother money to get his own small light truck, which started his business. When people tried to threaten his younger brother for money (extortion), my grandfather and a friend guarded him to keep him safe from the thugs, now their business succeed and they are living well.
Second story, he and my grandmother lived on a quiet big lot, and since my grandmother is from Negros Oriental, she brought her two sisters to Bukidnon and gave them the land where they live.
Third story, he also helped a struggling friend by lending him some money to start farming; that friend now has many trucks and a business, and they are still buddies.
Fourth story, there's a person who always give him fish whenever they met, and I recently learned that my grandfather had lent him money back in the day, which made me realize that my grandfather was a hero to others who needed to survive or maybe for their family to live.
Fifth story, I also recently knew that most of the land in our barangay is technically his because it was registered under his name, but he refused to claim it and gave way to the people who were currently using it.
He even survived a major injury to his bone that required a medical-grade alloy replacement, which was caused by his job as part of a CIDG, but he lived and chose not to get revenge. His story made me understand that you can never easily forget who showed you kindness, and his great love for people made him truly fortunate. I want to be more like him by always being generous with what I have, such as my time, help, and attention, and by always choosing kindness and patience instead of anger, revenge, or selfishness, just as he did.
