Fifty Years of Love

It was a bright and sunny day in July when our family gathered once more,
To celebrate the golden love of Mama Martha and Papa Roman, whom we adore.
Fifty years of laughter, faith, and care, a love that stood both joy and pain,
Through all the seasons of their life, their hearts remained the same.

It wasn’t just a simple day, it was a memory we’d hold for life,
A story of two souls who stayed together as husband and wife.
From Luzon came the family we don’t often get to see,
Their presence made the day complete, and it was pure love and unity.

The place was filled with laughter, stories, and songs from long ago,
Children running, elders smiling, hearts so warm they seemed to glow.
But even the happiest days can have surprises along the way,
When the icebox broke and water spilled near the wires where danger lay.

For a moment, silence filled the air as lights went out and hearts stopped too,
We prayed so hard that nothing bad would happen.
Then power came back, and we all sighed, thankful no one was harmed,
It was a small reminder that love protects and keeps us all unharmed.

Though the sun was bright and the heat was strong, we didn’t care at all,
We moved the chairs, we carried on, we stood proud, we stood tall.
For love was stronger than the heat, stronger than any fall,
It was a day that proved to me that love conquers all.

Then came a moment that touched every heart in the crowd,
When we showed a standee of our cousins from afar, and everyone cried out loud.
They couldn’t come from Canada, but through that picture, it felt the same,
Our grandparents cried, missing them deeply, saying out their names.

Tears fell, but smiles returned as music started to play,
We danced and sang together, ending the most beautiful day.
We gave our gifts, our hugs, our words, our thanks so true,
Because their love was the reason why this family grew.

That night, I learned something I’ll keep forever inside,
That real love never fades, it only grows with time.
It’s not about perfection or days that go as planned,
It’s about standing side by side and holding each other’s hand.

Love is patient, love forgives, and love always finds a way,
It shines through every tear and smile, through night and day.
And when I look at my grandparents, I see what love can do
It builds a home, it builds a life, and it keeps us all together too.
