I’ve always been drawn to the line “And all I loved, I loved alone” by Edgar Allan Poe. It really makes sense to me in a way I can’t fully explain.
There are a lot of things I care about deeply—dreams, memories, people—but sometimes they don’t feel right or complete, and most of the time, no one else really understands why they matter to me. Even though I love these things, I experience them mostly alone, and that’s okay.
I think what I like about this quote is how honest it is. It doesn’t pretend that love or passion has to be shared or validated by anyone else.
Sometimes the things that mean the most are quiet, personal, and just for you. Reading it reminds me that it’s okay to feel deeply, even if no one else sees it the same way.
That’s why it sticks with me—it’s a little sad, maybe, but also comforting, because it shows that my feelings, my love, and my experiences are valid just as they are.
